Ringed Teal

The Ringed Teal is a small and attractive duck from South America, popular in collections for its striking plumage and gentle nature. They can begin breeding from their first year, usually nesting in tree hollows or nest boxes. Clutches are typically 6–12 eggs, with the female incubating for around 25–26 days. The ducklings are hardy, active, and quick to develop. Ringed Teal adapt well to mixed collections, provided they have access to shallow water, plenty of cover, and suitable nest sites.
